Dream Job for Bovema/UK
Smoke control experts Bovema/UK transformed a nightmare into a dream opening for one of Britain’s leading beds specialist stores.
Hertfordshire-based Dreams plc had to put the opening of their new flagship Scottish store in Edinburgh on hold when building control officers insisted on a new smoke control system being installed before trading could begin.
The work would normally have taken seven weeks from design to completion, but Cardiff-based Bovema/UK carried out the entire project in just…four days.
Called in by Dreams on a Friday afternoon, the Bovema design team completed their part of the project over the weekend, with a team of contractors finishing the installation by the following Wednesday.
With building control approval gained 24 hours later, the new store opened a day later – exactly seven days after Bovema were first called in.
Bovema/UK managing director David Fitzpatrick said: “With every day passing meaning lost sales revenue for the store, it was crucial that we were able to respond very quickly which, I’m proud to say, we did.
“Our design team worked over the weekend to ensure their part of the job was completed fast and we utilised equipment we already had in stock to ensure the installation could be carried out immediately by a local team of contractors.”
Bovema/UK, whose headquarters are in Cardiff, is a European market leader in the design, manufacture, installation and management of specialist ventilation and smoke control systems.
The business is currently working on a series of projects, including installing smoke control systems in theatres, leisure centres and nursing homes in Liverpool, Shrewsbury, Manchester, Rotherham Sheffield.
