Air Scrubber

General Information

Description

The Bovema Air Scrubber is an air treatment system that sharply decreases the ammonia and odour emission from livestock housing or stables.

The environmentally friendly Air Scrubber is connected to the stable's central exhaust system.

The Air Scrubber is sized to the maximum necessary amount of ventilated air. The climate control in the stable determines the amount of air to be ventilated and controls the central exhaust ventilators. The central exhaust ventilators press the air through the Air Scrubber to the outside. The ammonia, dust and odour in the stable are sharply reduced.

Operating Principles

The principle behind the ammonia reduction lies in the reaction between ammonia (NH3) and sulphuric acid (H2SO4). This reaction is displayed as follows:

2 NH3 + H2SO4 >>>>>> 2 NH4+ + SO42-

The end product of the above reaction is a salt. This combination is a natural fertilizer and must be stored separately outside the stable (or added to the fertilizer).

Rendovent Operating Principles

The above formula shows a cross section of the Air Scrubber.

The ammonia and dust is removed from the polluted air as the air moves through the Air Scrubber.
The polluted air comes into the washer via the right side (1).
The Air Scrubber contains a water pack (3) that consists of a "honeycomb shaped" structure with a very large specific surface. This large surface is necessary to give the ammonia in the air enough time to dissolve in the water.
The water pack is sprayed with process water by one or more water pump(s) via a spraying system (6).
A reaction takes place once the ammonia in the air comes into contact with the process water, a sulphuric acid solution.
There is a droplet deflector (4) behind the water pack. Its ensures that the last droplets that are removed with the air, are taken out of the air.
The cleaned air (5) exists the washer through the top side, stripped of ammonia and the largest part of the odour and dust.
The process water in intercepted in a water container (2). The pH value of the process water is tested continuously with the hep of an acidity test. If the pH value is too high, an acidity pump adds acid to the process water automatically from an acid storage container.
The salt concentration of the process water is also measured continually. If the salt concentration of the process water has reached a previously set value, process water is automatically drained to the surplus container.

Applications

The Air Scrubbers can be used for:
  • Air treatment (hating, air conditioning, air filtering, heat recovery);
  • Cleaning (air scrubbing) of practically all soluble gaseous pollutants;
  • Odour reduction;
  • Air humidification;
  • Removing (polluted) process air;
  • Liquid and/ or chemical storage tanks;
  • Air tight ventilation channels (for exhausting air with high relative humidity);
  • Exhaust fans.

Specifications

  • LWV 952: Air Scrubber for pig farm with 95% reduction;
  • LWV 710: Air Scrubber for pig farm with 70% reduction;
  • LWV 720: Air Scrubber for pig farm with 70% reduction, prepared for enhancement to 95% reduction;

Despatching

The most optimum installation can be set up according to the desired volume flow and external resistance. Perfectly suitable for placing in the most ideal area. Also (partial) onsite setup is an option if the desired setup is difficult to reach for setup or if an interruption of the production process is undesired or impossible. The following extra features are available:
  • Salt measuring;
  • Conductivity measurement;
  • Modem (analogue, GSM, GSM/SMS);
  • Flow measurement via paddle wheel sensor;
  • Fixed chemical upstroke with filling point and necessary safety measures;
  • Interchangeable chemical upstroke with necessary safety measures;
  • Frequency adjustable pump.
